Somewhere along the trail

The trial tests kept me busy as I needed to adjust the time and buck up! It’s not an easy task to complete the marking of 50 sets of test papers every week!

It’s the fifth trial test now. No more teaching, it’s only test test test.

For this time, I gave an A to a pupil who constantly scored B and I realised giving this A was worth it. It not only put a big smile on that person’s face but it gave that person whole lot of confidence and it seemed to make a vast difference too. Why? He/She would want to work harder to main the good grade (It also gave them the license to boast too!! Haha). Well, having said this, there are some who really couldn’t care less about their results whether it’s an A, B or even C. I’ve done all I could, it’s up to them to follow.

The usual thing a teacher would do for pupils to achieve better in their grades is to find a shortcut. In this case, I meant fast tips. For high and low, I searched and compiled the guidelines altogether into two or three A4 size papers. I was delighted to see pupils followed the tips, my hard work paid off when my weakest pupil could at least obtained a B from D.

Pupils could do their best in tests or exams for many reasons :
1. to excel
2. to achieve their targeted goals
3. to stop parents’ nags
4. to stop teachers’ nags
5. to avoid going for after-school remedial classes
6. to be teachers’ favourites
7. to get teachers’ attention
8. to avoid being punished

Haha!

Irresponsible Parent

If you want to bear children, please give them the attention and time they need. No point sending kids to a day-care centre just to prevent them from watching tv at home after school. Relying on others to take care of your kids just doesn’t show that you’re responsible. Shove $$ into their pocket is another “way” to keep them quiet. That however, will become something they look up to instead of your tender love and care. Staying a few doors away is not that far. Cant’t really make an effort to be together with them? Even just that few hours is good enough.

Imagine a kid say “I only see my parents on Saturdays.” and “I only see my parents every night.” Kids would not benefit from these.

Don’t make an excuse to cover your absence instead make an effort to show them your love no matter how busy you are.

Don’t reward them with money when they have achieved something instead take them for a trip and spend some quality time together.

If a teacher tells you something bad about your kid, what do you do? Nod and agree because you know your child cannot be improved? Or be shocked “Oh really?!” because you don’t really know your child as you don’t spend so much time with them?

Think again.

Please, have them by your sides.

*it’s just my points of view, I might be wrong as I did not consider their situation.

Green Lantern’s Power Ring

What would you do if you had the Green Lantern’s Power Ring for a day?

I would turn all kids with bad-ass attitude to goody-two-shoes, so they would never give headaches to their teachers ever again. Also, with this ring, I would create portals for teleportation from one place to the other. This way, students who do not pay attention during lessons could be sent away rather than distracting others in the classroom. Then teleport them back once they have realized what they have done wrong. EVIL! >.<”

No I’m not evil, think again. Those kids who used to give me headache (and still are doing it) are devils. :D

I would like to create a dictionary that could appear at any point of time when someone needs it, just with a flick of finger + thoughts of the object. (The dictionary appears in holograms for convenience.) This would help all students (I mean everyone) to get the words they wanted and spell it right. (I’m tired of answering the question, “Teacher, how to spell so and so.”) Heh.

Sometimes it’s very hard when two people have the different ways to do certain things.

ATM Fraud

Received the bank statement, saw a credit of a big amount of $$. I was shocked. It was very obvious that it wasn’t me that made the withdrawal.

So the next step was to call up the customer-care line to stop the atm card and to ask for help. So I reported the incident to them. They said in order to investigate further, they needed the police report. So I went to the police station to make the report.

Being at the police station was an eye opener to me. So I was there to report the case. The officer took down what I said and typed them all into a document. Fine. After that’s done, she called up to refer the case to the police station in BM. The strange thing was the BM police station pushed the responsibility to the BT police station. Then called up the BT police station, they pushed the responsibility back to BM police station. What?! What she did was to refer to the BM police station as they are the main station. She told me that they will ring me to follow up with the case. WHICH they did NOT still.

A few days later I went to the bank, told them I made a police report and wanted them to follow up with the investigation. The bank officer was happy to help and promised to ring me in the evening after she’d run through a check with the head office. WHICH she did NOT. So I went to the bank and asked her for the status. She with her reluctant face told me that she had not look into the matter yet. The necessary documents were still lying at the corner of her table. This is getting up my nerves and I acted cool, asked her if I needed to be there in case they found any clues during the investigation as she told me she will update me on Monday. She didn’t give me a chance to finish my sentence as I told her I will leave BM on Saturday. She proceeded by asking me to wait while she asked a fellow colleague how to deal with this matter. She is rude. I knew I went to the bank slightly after the bank had closed as I wanted to know the status of what she’d done. Clearly she didn’t even care about it.

For a person to lose such sum of money is helluva big issue. But for them, it’s a small case, probably it’s a regular case that they didn’t place priority in it.

I’m disappointed. Really am. I’ll just wait for Monday. If there weren’t any updates, they surely are in deep shit. I mean it.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

Been to the LHDN office today to get the pin number for e-filing. Being new to this, I hardly know exactly what to do. Really.

First and foremost, the front desk is terrible. Why? There was a long queue and some were just hanging around to fill in some forms. Where is the efficiency?

Went to the counter area, it was rather confusing. As a first timer, I would find it difficult and lost. Yes, I got my number so I sat down and waited together with my sister. Many counters were on operation but somehow the waiting time was long. So I looked around to see what’s in store. I spotted a notice saying “No Pin Baru” and that’s the thing that we went there for.

Upon arriving a long table with officers sitting behind it, a lady officer asked “Nak apa?” Spontaneously my sister answered “nak nombor pin baru untuk e-filing” and gave her my identity card. She didn’t seem to be friendly and wanting to help. After checking, she asked for my income tax number, I told her I couldn’t remember. The look on her face clearly showed how reluctant she was to check the number from the server. The IC contains so much of information, why do they have to ask? Then what’s the use of the IC? Idiotic.

It was just a simple task. Why can’t they service with a smile? Look at this picture taken from their website.

This is a total opposite.

OR

Are they just being RACIST?

Different

Everyone has got a different personality, different points of view, different attitude and behaviour. I’ve seen lots of these from the younger generation. Some tolerable. Some untolerable.

At times they’re so difficult to be controlled since they were brought up that way and acting as such is a norm to them.

Ughh. I dislike dealing with this.

I faint.

Sometimes a kid can be so amusing that I don’t know what to say anymore. Simple things can go on being so complicated. The situation was checking of the registration-cum-application for the exam. So they should make sure the details are correct and they should tally them acceoding to their birth certs.

Strangely one of them asked, “Teacher, I think my mom’s age is wrong.” Then another one commented, “Ms Amy, I think the address is wrong, I don’t live here.”

Wahhhhh! I faint.

It’s official that that was the first time for them to see their own birth certs.

Can’t blame them for anything. They’re just being naive and innocent.

Being demanding?

Still feel something is lacking. Tho it had already been awhile, it should’ve gotten more but what’s happening now is the other way round. How now? The means of communication are only the phone and the Internet. I guess these two can make wonders. I can’t help to be disappointed to have late replies or zero interaction virtually. It doesn’t have to be on a daily basis, else it would’ve been a routine. It’s just the thought that really counts, really makes soneone’s day go brighter. I looked forward for these and still looking for them. I hope I don’t wait for nothing.

Sigh.

Football?

I was a football fan back in my teenage years. I could stay up just to catch the match. At times, I even slept off on the couch. Mom would say that I’m silly for wasting the sleeping time.

Alright, here’s something amazing that I’ve found through football. I mean watching it. I was actually doing my work at the very last minute due to major procrastination. So I was burning midnight oil. I’m lucky to have someone there to accompany me at times when I have to stay up. He was watching one of the EPLs matches I couldn’t remember which teams were playing. He fell asleep after 15minutes but I was still wide awake, getting the work done rather in a pace I would label as fast.

Why? How come? It was 1 plus in the morning.

The secret lies in the football match. There bound to be people cheering for their favourite football clubs. It was noisy right? But that’s what kept me awake. The cheer! I felt as though they were cheering for me! My work was done in less than two hours (it could’ve been longer than that as I’m not a very hardworking person).

From that onwards, I have better concentration and motivation in doing my work with the help of the cheer!

Try it out!
